Behind the Screens: Bringing the Carriage House Event Centre to Life
Have you heard about Hanover’s new Carriage House Event Centre?
The town of Hanover and area is celebrating a much-needed gathering space that serves as “the perfect setting for everything from intimate gatherings and celebrations to corporate events and community functions”.
The Backstory
The Hanover, Bentinck & Brant Agricultural Societies are extremely forward-thinking. For years, a building design that would offer boardroom rental, hall space for events of all kinds, and a commercial kitchen had been in the works.
And this year, after 12-14 months of construction, the Carriage House was ready to be enjoyed. On September 24, dignitaries sliced the ribbon, and the building, owned and operated by the Hanover, Bentinck & Brant Agricultural Society, was officially opened.
The Open House on Thursday, Sept 24 showcased the space – which is just as warm and inviting as advertised. Not to mention the commercial kitchen, which includes professional cookware and equipment, a commercial dishwasher, and plating and cutlery for up to 500 guests.
Many were wide-eyed when viewing the massive area ready for food prep as well as the walk-in fridge.
You likely know its exact location at the Hanover Raceway - across from the pool complex and around the corner from the casino and the Match restaurant.
It’s open!
The Mayor of Hanover, Sue Paterson, is excited about the opportunities these rooms offer.
'The Hanover, Bentinck and Brant Agricultural Society's Carriage House Event Centre is a welcome addition to Hanover and our Entertainment District. This wonderful space will be used for gatherings, celebrations, and events that bring people together, which strengthens our community and supports the vibrant community we continue to build.'
Although September 24 was the official opening, the facilities have already been quite popular. Exhibits were displayed for the Hanover Fair on August 9, and on Sunday, September 13, the Hanover Card, Toy and Collectible Show appreciated renting the hall.
Events and Program Coordinator, Brook Doersam, shared that bookings increase in number every month.
Balaklava’s Role
Balaklava’s resume includes a vast array of successful projects, including individual homes and cottages, multiplexes, commercial plans, outdoor spaces, raceway stands and barns, and publicly owned buildings such as arenas, community centres, and municipal home bases. And, in this case, The Carriage House Event Centre.
Working alongside stakeholders, managers, and contractors, Balaklava was able to assess what the Carriage House wanted/needed and to fulfil the automated needs of the facility. This includes:
- the network
- video and audio distribution
- the conference room tech
- the TVs and 4x4 video walls
Another bonus with using a local expert to automate the property is that any needed service and upgrades occur quickly.
Balaklava was honoured to be included in this dynamic process.
